About.
I'm Ali — a backend software engineer who loves building systems that connect things together. I graduated from LUMS with a BS in Computer Science, and I specialize in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and scalable backend services.
I enjoy the kind of problems that sit at the intersection of data, architecture, and reliability — designing data pipelines across dozens of APIs, building serverless systems on AWS, writing graph queries, and figuring out how to make things fail less.
Outside of work, I'm diving deeper into AI/ML (two AWS certifications and counting), building side projects, and always looking for interesting problems to solve.
I also contribute to open source — with merged PRs across repos like Prometheus, Apache Airflow, and Backstage.

Backend Software Engineer
KaleidoscopeData Integration Platform
Built the backend for Kscope — a unified context platform connecting cloud, DevOps, and security tools into a centralized graph on Amazon Neptune. Designed Go-based crawlers pulling from REST and GraphQL APIs, mapping responses into typed structs and generating graph nodes/edges.
Security & Risk Intelligence
Built a pre-crawl credential validation framework across 23 crawlers, eliminating wasted compute on failed runs. Wrote graph and SQL queries driving security dashboards; designed multi-factor risk scoring algorithms evaluating threat severity, attack surface, and compliance posture.
Asset Registry (CMDB)
Designed and built a graph-based asset management system end-to-end — GraphQL API on AWS AppSync, serverless Go backend on Lambda with Cognito auth, and a React/TypeScript dashboard deployed across four CDK stacks.
DevOps & Infrastructure
Set up CI/CD with GitHub Actions + CDK and built a LocalStack-based local dev environment that slashed integration testing time. Implemented zero-downtime schema deployments through an automated migration system with ordered mutations per release.

Multi-step agentic AI loop with real-time streaming (SSE + WebSockets), tool execution (Python sandbox, web search, URL fetching), and document Q&A — attach a PDF, Word doc, or text file and it answers from the contents using BM25 retrieval. Robust error recovery handles complex, multi-part tasks autonomously across multiple LLM turns.
Secure file-sharing web app with controlled links, per-recipient view limits, time-based expiry, view-only mode, backend-proxied delivery, and screenshot deterrence.
Paste a link, get a short URL, and track every click with real-time analytics — geographic breakdown, device and browser stats, referrer sources, QR code generation, dark mode, and a live-updating dashboard with charts.
Automated trading bot using market indicators and predefined strategies on a Python/Flask backend with a web interface and relational database.
